A bank dispute on a game purchase does not behave like a refund. On the platforms we could verify, it locks, suspends or revokes first and asks questions later — and for a purchase you made yourself, it puts the whole library at risk for nothing. Pick your platform and what actually happened, and this checker gives you the verified consequence plus the safer route, in order. Two platforms are shown as not verified on purpose: we could not confirm their chargeback rules on their own pages, so we refuse to rate them rather than repeat second-hand claims.
The one line that matters: a purchase you authorised must never be described to your bank as unauthorised. A false fraud claim is fraud — and it does not protect your account, it endangers it.
Private by design — everything runs in your browser.
Every consequence below is stated only as far as the platform's own published pages go. Where a platform's own pages did not confirm a rule, the table says so — a missing rating is a finding, not a gap to fill with a guess.
| Platform | If you charge back | Refund-first route | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Steam | Account locked, restricted from future purchases; disputed product temporarily locked. Lock removed by removing the dispute; content restored if the dispute closes with funds returned to Steam. No duration published. | Steam Help refund request: within 14 days and under 2 hours played; outside that window a request can still be submitted and Valve will look at it. | Verified |
| PlayStation | Account or console suspended while investigated; stays suspended until the debt is repaid if there is no lawful reason. Access regained by paying the balance due (errors WS-37368-7 / WS-116367-4). | PlayStation Store refund request: games/DLC within 14 days and not downloaded or streamed, unless faulty; subscriptions within 14 days, first payment only. | Verified |
| Xbox / Microsoft Store | Microsoft deems you to have cancelled as of the original payment date and may immediately cancel the service and/or revoke the content paid for. Non-payment may also lead to suspension or cancellation. | Xbox Support refund request: typically within 14 days, without a significant amount of playtime (no exact hour threshold published); requests can be submitted within 90 days but approval is not assured. | Verified |
| Nintendo (eShop) | Nintendo tells customers not to dispute before contacting Nintendo, to avoid restrictions on the relevant Nintendo Account. Compromised accounts follow the Account Recovery Process plus card blocking/replacement. | Contact Nintendo Support first. No self-service refund window for completed eShop purchases was found on Nintendo's support pages. | Verified |
| Epic Games Store | Not rated — no Epic-owned page confirming a chargeback consequence was directly confirmed on 2026-11-01. | Ask Epic Player Support first. Do not act on second-hand claims about this platform's consequence. | Not verified |
| Roblox | Not rated — no Roblox-owned page confirming a chargeback consequence was directly confirmed on 2026-11-01. | Ask Roblox Support first. Do not act on second-hand claims about this platform's consequence. | Not verified |
For every platform, the order is the same: 1. platform refund/support route first (with the ticket number kept); 2. secure the account (password, sign out everywhere, purchase PIN) if anyone else could have paid; 3. bank dispute only for a charge that is genuinely unauthorised, missing, faulty or duplicated, told in the same words to the platform and the bank. Skipping step 1 is what turns a fixable refund into an account restriction.
It cannot see your account history, how many disputes you have filed, or what a support agent will decide on your case — platforms decide individually, and repeat disputes are treated more strictly than a first one everywhere. It also cannot rate Epic Games or Roblox until their own pages confirm a rule; if you hold an account on either, the honest advice is to ask that platform's support directly and keep its answer in writing before your bank hears from you.
